A personal blog: It's just so...2004, right? Well, if you're like me then you have interests and hobbies about which you simply can't stop bothering people. It only makes sense to keep all of that rambling in one place. It also makes it easier for people to ignore you, which I think is only polite.
Sam Trek is the most current incarnation of my home on the Internet*, with its predecessors including an old-school, built-from scratch homepage, various Live Journal and WordPress efforts, and a couple of topic-specific blogs. I'm rolling this whole thing up on Blogger, because it's crazy easy. Is it the best? Probably not. Do I care? Probably not.
(* - By "Internet", I mean the World Wide Web. But these damned kids today don't know the difference.)
So that's what this place is. The name is an obvious homage to Star Trek, the beloved science fiction franchise whose minutia occupy very embarrassing percentages of both my long-term memory and my waking thoughts. C'est la vie de geek.
But along with Star Trek and related topics, I like a lot of other goofy crap: Tabletop roleplaying games, history trivia, fountain pens, heavy metal music, and, like, reading and stuff.
There you have it. The official mission statement for Sam Trek. Look on my mediocrity, and despair.
